Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers about classes, policies, and studio experience at KeenCrest Clay Studio.
What experience level do I need to join your classes?
No prior experience is necessary. Our beginner classes start from absolute basics, while intermediate and advanced workshops welcome those who have worked with clay before. We offer guided introductions and small groups so instructors can support every participant.
What materials and tools are provided?
All clay, glazes, basic tools, and studio equipment are included in the class fee. You may bring personal tools if you prefer. Finished work is fired on-site and ready for collection approximately two weeks after completion of glazing.
Can I reschedule or cancel my class?
Yes. We allow free rescheduling up to 72 hours before your session. Cancellations made after this window receive a 50% credit toward a future class. Please contact us by phone or email to make changes.
Is the studio wheelchair accessible?
Our ground-floor studio is fully wheelchair accessible with wide entryways, an accessible restroom, and adjustable-height tables. Please mention any mobility needs when booking so we can reserve an appropriate wheel.
Are children allowed in adult classes?
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult in our regular classes. We offer dedicated family and kids sessions on weekends. All minors require a signed waiver from a guardian.
How do you handle glazing safety?
All glazes used at KeenCrest Clay Studio are food-safe and lead-free. We provide gloves, ventilation, and clear guidance during glazing sessions. Brushes and sponges are sanitized between students.
What happens if my piece breaks during firing?
We take great care during kiln loading and firing, but occasional breakage can occur. If a piece is damaged in our kiln due to our process, you will receive a full studio credit for a future session. Personal breakage due to thin walls or trapped air is the responsibility of the maker.
Do you offer private parties or corporate events?
Absolutely. We host private birthday parties, team-building workshops, and date-night sessions. Events can be scheduled outside regular hours and include a dedicated instructor. Contact us at least three weeks in advance to discuss details and pricing.
How long does it take to complete a project?
Most hand-building or wheel-throwing projects span two to three sessions: one for forming, one for trimming and handles, and a final glazing session. Your finished work will be available for pickup two weeks after glazing.
